Women's Suffrage: Wyoming's historic role

In 1869, Wyoming became one of the first places in the world to grant women the right to vote, paving the way for equality and women's rights. Just 21 years later, on July 10, 1890, Wyoming proudly became the 44th state of the United States.

Vast land, open sky

Wyoming, located in the Mountain West of the United States, is bordered by Montana to the north, South Dakota and Nebraska to the east, Idaho to the west, Utah to the southwest, and Colorado to the south. Despite its vast size, with a population of just 576,851 (as of 2020), Wyoming is one of the least populous states in the U.S. — offering an abundance of open space and natural beauty.
